What does an IEE address?

An IEE can address any area you feel is important for your child's success in the school environment. However, a qualified evaluator is required to address the area of his/her specialization. As an LSSP, Dr. Laura specializes in the evalaution and treatment of child and adolescent social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. As such, she is specially qualified to address the following special education eligibilities:

  • Autism (which includes mild, moderate and severe diagnoses of an Autism Spectrum Disorder),
  • Emotional Disturbance (which addresses a variety of concerns, including significant symptoms of depression and anxiety, social difficulties, inappropriate behaviors under normal circumstances, and somatic symptoms)
  • Other Health Impairment (which includes medical diagnoses of ADHD and Tourette's Disorder but requires a physician's recommendation)

In addition, Dr. Laura can provide information regarding your child's intellectual/developmental and academic abilities. Based on the purpose of the IEE, testing can include, not not limited to, the following:

  • Parent and teacher information
  • Observations in the school environment (allowed by law for IEEs)
  • Psychological testing
  • Intellectual/academic achievement testing
  • Developmental evaluation
