Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)
By Texas law, a parent who disagrees with an evaluation by the school district has the legal right to request an IEE, generally at the school district's expense. An IEE is used to get a second opinion regarding special education eligibility and to evaluate the student's educational needs. An IEE must be completed by a qualified examiner, one who meets the school district's standards, that does not work for the school district. As a LSSP, Dr. Laura is familiar with special education evaluation and the role of the IEE in the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) process. If you would like to pursue an IEE through Dr. Laura, please contact the office at (281) 624-6483 to discuss options for the evaluation.
